Quinn London Secures £12.7m Thomas’ College London Project
Quinn London is delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing a £12.7 million project at Thomas’s London Day School.
Situated on a remarkable grade II historical site amid the scenic surroundings of Richmond, this prestigious project involves the refurbishment and reconfiguration of several key buildings, transforming the Richmond Hill site into Thomas’s College, scheduled to open in 2025. Thomas’s College will cater for 506 year 7-11 pupils and 126 sixth form pupils, with accommodation available for 50 pupils to board. The refurbishment project spans a combined floor area of 9,800 m², nestled within approximately 2.1 hectares of landscaped gardens. The buildings that will be refurbished include:
- Main Building
- Sir Cyril Taylor Library
- Red House
- Longley House
The extensive works will involve significant structural alterations to the Main Building, including the installation of moment frames to create larger teaching spaces by removing existing fireplaces while retaining the chimneys above. Additionally, classrooms will replace the existing second-floor boarding area, while the third-floor boarding rooms will be maintained and refurbished. The Sir Cyril Taylor Library will be transformed to provide study and exam spaces, science laboratories, and an auditorium. The Red House will become a dedicated sixth form study area, and Longley House will be converted into a workshop and design studio for graphics and resistant materials.
The project was secured by our Heritage division, who have extensive experience in delivering restoration projects and managing heritage assets to sustain and, where appropriate, enhance their significance. It is our overarching aim that every project that we work on is conserved to be appreciated by future generations, whilst providing a sustainable asset that can be utilised by the surrounding society.
