Pre-apprenticeship journey at Quinn London
In an exciting collaboration between Quinn London and Saracens High School, a 6th form student from Northwest London, Carlos, has just completed a pre-apprenticeship opportunity. Over a span of six months, Carlos has delved into the world of construction, balancing classroom studies with hands-on experience at Quinn London.
Throughout his placement, Carlos has been exposed to a diverse array of experiences, from shadowing our property services team to gaining valuable insights into finance and procurement processes. Carlos then transitioned to Quinn London’s onsite team, where he actively contributed to an insulation project in partnership with Barnet Homes.
Reflecting on his experience, Carlos said: “My most memorable experience is my first day on site; everybody was so welcoming, they let me be part of the family.”
Balancing commitments between his work experience at Quinn London, his involvement in the sea cadetship, football club, and academic pursuits posed challenges for Carlos. However, his resilience and determination enabled him to effectively manage these responsibilities, showcasing his ability to thrive in demanding environments and leaving a positive impression with those he meets.
Throughout his journey at Quinn London, Carlos has experienced significant personal growth, this is particularly evident in his enhanced confidence and communication skills. Lynn Woodrow, our Operations Controller said: “Carlos has shown tremendous growth during his time with us. His confidence and communication skills have flourished, and we are proud to have been a part of his journey.”
Carlos’ aspirations now lead him towards his studies in physiotherapy at college, while working hard to achieve another goal of a career in football. We extend our best wishes to Carlos, keeping the door open for his potential return, should he wish.
Saracens High School shared their pride in Carlos’s development at Quinn London, stating, “we’re thrilled with his progress.”
We are already in discussions with Saracens High School to host another pre-apprenticeship. However, we can only hope they live up to Carlos, who, as our first, has set a high standard!
